Brushing Tips to Improve the Health of Your Teeth
Dental brushing is such a common habit that few of us
actually pay proper attention to it, though negligence is the main cause of the
apparition of caries and gingival disease.
As an experienced Littleton orthodontist will tell you, the first step for
effective brushing is choosing a good toothbrush. You can find tree types: hard,
medium and soft toothbrushes. Go for the medium option, because hard
toothbrushes may injure your gums and cause retractions, while soft
toothbrushes do not clean properly the bacterial plaque.
If you prefer the electric toothbrush, that`s even better, as
it will make the entire brushing process more easy and efficient. Hold the
toothbrush on the tooth surface for a few seconds, then move on to the next!
It is obligatory to wash your teeth in the morning and in
the evening, but also after each meal if you wear a dental appliance. The
toothbrush must be gently moved tooth-wide, starting from the gum line. Proper
brushing should take about 3 minutes. Do not forget to also clean the dental implants
and crowns, if necessary.
If you have crowded teeth that are typically harder to
clean, you must consider using more frequently an interdental brush, dental
floss and mouthwash.
